In any food service business, making it to the two year mark after opening is what many Chefs, Bakers and Caterers first need to grasp as a first big mile stone dream within their business. reason being that they are doomed to fail financially if they don't make it in good standing.
What CSB business model's do is helps set up a breeding ground for product development, brings in more steady cash flow in the beginning and allows for the business to set up in more of a steady market see where their clients are actually coming from.
These bakeries don't have actual store front's to begin with but instead is more online based and with the support or help of a rented out commercial kitchen, the kind most caterers rent or even own if they have that kind of start up capital. Normally CSB's start out in their local neighborhood's then expand from their using their first clients as baked good's, lab rats to find out the best way's to create their tasty treats.
If you've never thought of this or heard of this type of start-up business it something to look in to as a possibility, especially if you are a foodie looking to support new local Chefs trying to get their start some where. Here in Minneapolis, MN there are two CSB's, The April Fool's Virtual Bakery and
